1Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Roomer application and website (collectively, the "Service"), you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these Terms & Conditions ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not accept these Terms, you are not authorised to use the Service. The Terms form a binding agreement between you and Roomer S.r.l.

2Service Description

Roomer is a roommate-matching platform. The Service allows users to:

  • Create a personal profile with co-living preferences and lifestyle information.
  • Receive compatible profile suggestions via our matching algorithm.
  • View a compatibility score with other users.
  • Contact compatible users via in-app chat (subject to free-plan limits).
  • Update their city and preferences over time.

Roomer is not a real estate agency and does not guarantee accommodation availability. The Service solely facilitates connections between people seeking co-living arrangements.

3Registration and Account

To use the Service you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Provide truthful, accurate and current information during registration.
  • Keep your account credentials confidential.
  • Notify Roomer immediately of any unauthorised access to your account.

You are responsible for all activities carried out through your account. Roomer is not liable for losses or damages arising from unauthorised use of your account.

You may not create more than one account per person. In the event of a breach, we reserve the right to suspend or delete all associated accounts.

4Roomer Pro

Roomer offers a paid subscription called Roomer Pro which includes:

  • Unlimited chats with all compatible profiles.
  • Access to all profiles in your area without restrictions.
  • Additional premium features that may be introduced over time.

The Pro subscription auto-renews unless cancelled before the renewal date via App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) settings. Payments are handled by the app distribution platform (Apple or Google), not by Roomer directly. No refund is provided for partial periods unless required by law.

5User Content

By uploading photos, text and any other content to the Service ("User Content"), you grant Roomer a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable and sub-licensable licence to use, reproduce, modify and display such content solely for the purpose of providing and improving the Service.

You are responsible for your User Content and confirm that it:

  • Does not infringe third-party rights (e.g., copyright, privacy).
  • Does not contain unlawful, offensive, defamatory or pornographic material.
  • You have the necessary rights to share it on the platform.

6Prohibited Conduct

When using the Service it is expressly prohibited to:

  • Create fake profiles or impersonate other people or organisations.
  • Send spam, chain messages, or unsolicited commercial communications.
  • Post sexually explicit, violent, discriminatory or unlawful content.
  • Harass, intimidate or threaten other users.
  • Use the Service for unauthorised commercial, promotional or advertising activities.
  • Collect or scrape data from other users without consent.
  • Attempt to circumvent security measures, reverse-engineer or modify the app.
  • Violate any applicable local, national or international law.

Breach of these rules may result in immediate account suspension and, in serious cases, legal action.

7Child Safety Standards (CSAE)

Roomer is committed to maintaining a safe environment for all users. In compliance with applicable laws and international child protection standards, this platform strictly and explicitly prohibits all forms of child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including:

  • Production, distribution, sharing, or possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
  • Any communication, solicitation, or grooming directed at minors.
  • Sexual exploitation of minors in any form, including via messages, images, or videos.
  • Using the platform to organise, facilitate, or promote sexual activity with minors.

Roomer requires all users to be at least 18 years old. If a user is suspected to be underage, their account is immediately suspended as a precautionary measure.

Any CSAM detected or reported is promptly removed and reported to the relevant authorities, including the NCMEC (National Center for Missing & Exploited Children) where applicable, and Italian law enforcement.

Users can report suspicious content or behaviour and block other users directly via the in-app reporting and blocking features available on every profile and conversation.

8Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". Roomer does not warrant that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that matching results will meet your expectations.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Roomer is not liable for:

  • Indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from use of the Service.
  • Conduct or actions of other users encountered through the platform.
  • Data loss or service interruptions beyond our reasonable control.
  • Content posted by third parties on the platform.

Nothing in these Terms limits Roomer's liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud, to the extent such limitation is not permitted by law.

9Intellectual Property

The Service, including logo, design, text, graphics, algorithms and software, is protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights and belongs to Roomer S.r.l. or its licensors.

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the Service for personal use, in compliance with these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute or create derivative works of the Service without prior written consent.

10Suspension and Termination

You may delete your account at any time via in-app settings. Deletion removes your profile from the platform and terminates your access to the Service.

Roomer reserves the right to suspend or delete your account in the event of:

  • Breach of these Terms.
  • Fraudulent or unlawful behaviour.
  • Serious reports from other users.
  • Prolonged account inactivity (over 24 months).

11Changes to Terms

Roomer reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification or email with at least 30 days' notice.

Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not accept the changes, you may delete your account before the effective date.

12Governing Law

These Terms are governed by Italian law. For any dispute relating to the Service, the parties agree to attempt an amicable resolution. Failing that, the courts of Milan shall have jurisdiction, without prejudice to consumer rights under applicable law.
